Introduction
CHI Project seeks and incubates traditional Korean crafts made by artisans located all over the nation. By collaborating with these artisans, CHI Project reinterprets Korean traditions and develops products that can be naturally used in modern daily lives.
In collaboration with 백경현 artisan
‘SUBI’ combines the meaning of ‘water’ and ‘fly’. Koreans used to filter out and acquire the purest element by using filters made of horse tail hair. By reinterpreting the traditional filter, the modern tea filter SUBI is made of the finest horse tail hair and finished with layers of lacquer. This provides the finest ritual to filter out tea with rich taste and aroma.
In collaboration with 박형민 artisan
박형민 artisan uses the ‘knot’ to describe life, with the process of tying and untying the knot as you go forward. As much as traditional knot making needs careful untangling and untying to finish a proper knot, life itself is the same.
As you tie and untie the knots, one gets to reflect oneself with a different view. Enjoy and immerse yourself into the world of Korean traditional knots and each of its meanings.
